Etiquettes and Duaas for Sleeping

One should recite the following duaa before going to sleep:

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي فَاغْفِر لي ذَنْبِي 

O my Rabb, with Your name (have I lay down to sleep), so forgive my sins

عن عبد الله بن عمرو أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم كان إذا اضطجع للنوم يقول : باسمك ربي فاغفر لي ذنبي  رواه أحمد وإسناده حسن (مجمع الزوائد رقم 17045)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Amr (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite the following duaa when retiring to bed:

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي فَاغْفِر لي ذَنْبِي …

One should recite the musabbihaat (i.e. those surahs that begin with the words of tasbeeh) before sleeping.…

بِاسْمِكَ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي فَاغْفِر لِي

One should recite Surah Mulk and Surah Sajdah before retiring to bed.

عن جابر : أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم كان لا ينام حتى يقرأ آلم تنزيل وتبارك الذي بيده الملك (ترمذي رقم 2892)

Hadhrat Jaabir (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would not sleep until he recited Surah Sajdah and Surah Mulk.…

One should recite the following duaa before going to sleep:

اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَ أَحْيَى

One should recite Surah Zumar and Surah Bani Israa’eel before sleeping

عن أبي لبابة قال قالت عائشة رضي الله عنها : كان النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم لا ينام حتى يقرأ الزمر وبني إسرائيل (ترمذي رقم 3405)

Hadhrat Abu Lubaabah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Hadhrat Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) said: “Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would not sleep until he recited Surah Zumar and Surah Bani Israa’eel.”…

One should recite Tasbeeh-e-Faatimi before retiring to bed: i.e. 33 times Subhaanallah, 33 times Alhamdulillah, and 34 times Allahu Akbar.…

One should recite the last three verses of Surah Baqarah before sleeping.

عن على رضي الله عنه قال : ما كنت أرى أحدا يعقل ينام حتى يقرأ الآيات الأواخر من سورة البقرة فإنهن من كنز تحت العرش (الدارمى ، ومسدد ، ومحمد بن نصر ، وابن الضريس ، وابن مردويه) [كنز العمال 4065] (جامع الأحاديث رقم 34768)

It is reported that Hadhrat Ali (Radhiyallahu Anhu) said: “I do not think that any intelligent person will go to sleep without reciting the last (three) verses of Surah Baqarah, for certainly it is a treasure from beneath the Arsh.”…

One should recite the three Quls, blow on his palms and rub on his entire body thrice.…
