Duaa for protection from Harm and Evil

1. The following Duaa should be recited thrice every morning and evening:

اَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek protection through the perfect and beneficial words of Allah Ta’ala (i.e. His names and attributes) from the evil (harm) of His creation.

عن أبي هريرة، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: من قال حين يمسي ثلاث مرات: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق، لم يضره حمة تلك الليلة. قال سهيل: فكان أهلنا تعلموها فكانوا يقولونها كل ليلة فلدغت جارية منهم فلم تجد لها وجعا (ترمذي رقم 3604)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who recites the following duaa thrice in the evening, the sting of a scorpion (or any other poisonous creature) will not harm him for the entire night”

اَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Suhayl (Rahimahullah) says: “Our entire family learnt this duaa and used to recite it. Once a young girl from our family was stung by a scorpion, and she did not feel any pain from it (due to the barkat of this duaa).”

عن خولة بنت حكيم السلمية رضي الله عنها أنها سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول إذا نزل أحدكم منزلا فليقل أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق فإنه لا يضره شيء حتى يرتحل منه (مسلم رقم 2708)

Hadhrat Khaula (Radhiallahu Anha) reports that she had heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) say: “If anyone of you halts at any place, and he recites the following duaa, then no harm will come to him from the time he halts till the time he departs.”

اَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أنه قال جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال  يا رسول الله ما لقيت من عقرب لدغتني البارحة قال أما لو قلت حين أمسيت أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق لم تضرك (مسلم رقم 2709)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that on one occasion a person had come to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said: “O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), last night, I was stung by a scorpion.” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) responded saying: “Had you recited the following duaa last night, no harm would have come to you: 

اَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من قال حين يصبح وحين يمسي: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق، لم يضره شيء. قلت: له حديث في الصحيح غير هذا. رواه الطبراني في الأوسط. (مجمع الزوائد رقم 17023)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who recites the following duaa in the morning and evening, nothing will harm him.”
