1. One should not lean while eating.
عن أَببي جُحَيْفَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنهٌ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لاَ آكُلُ مُتَّكِئًا (البخاري رقم 5398)
Hadhrat Abu Juhaifa (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “I do not eat while leaning or taking support upon anything.”
2. One should not find fault with the food.
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: مَا عَابَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا قَطُّ، إِنِ اشْتَهَاهُ أَكَلَهُ، وَإِنْ كَرِهَهُ تَرَكَهُ (البخاري رقم 5409)
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) relates regarding the noble character of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) never found fault with the food. If he desired eating it, he ate it, and if he did not wish to eat it, he merely left it.
3. One should remove his shoes before eating.
عن انس قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : إذا وضع الطعام فاخلعوا نعالكم فإنه أروح لأقدامكم (الدارمي رقم 2080)
Hadhrat Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “At the time of meals you should remove your shoes. Eating without shoes brings about more comfort to one’s feet.”
