Dua after the Azaan

1. After the azaan, one should recite durood upon Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and thereafter recite the following dua:

اللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا_نِ الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًا_نِ الَّذِيْ وَعَدْتَّهُ إِنَّكَ لَاتُخْلِفُ الْمِيْعَادْ

O Allah Ta’ala, Rabb of this perfect call and of the established salaah, bestow upon Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) the ‘waseelah’ (an extremely high stage in Jannah) and ‘fadheelah’ (a lofty position that is above all the creation), and grant him the “Maqaam Mahmood” (i.e the honour of interceding to Allah Ta’ala to commence the reckoning for the entire creation on the Day of Qiyaamah) which You have promised him, indeed You do not go against Your promise.

عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنهما أنه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول إذا سمعتم المؤذن فقولوا مثل ما يقول ثم صلوا علي فإنه من صلى علي صلاة صلى الله عليه بها عشرا ثم سلوا الله لي الوسيلة فإنها منزلة في الجنة لا تنبغي إلا لعبد من عباد الله وأرجو أن أكون أنا هو فمن سأل لي الوسيلة حلت له الشفاعة (صحيح مسلم، الرقم: 384)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that he heard Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) saying, “When you hear the muazzin call out the azaan, then repeat the words of the azaan after him and thereafter recite durood upon me (before reciting the dua of azaan). Verily, whoever recites durood upon me once, Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings on him. Then (recite the dua after the azaan in which you) supplicate to Allah Ta’ala to bless me with the honour of ‘waseelah’ which is a lofty position and rank in Jannah which will be exclusively granted to one of Allah’s special servants. I earnestly hope that I am granted that position, and whoever supplicates to Allah Ta’ala to grant me the ‘waseelah’, he will receive my intercession on the Day of Qiyaamah.”

عن جابر رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من قال حين يسمع النداء اللهم رب هذه الدعوة التامة والصلاة القائمة آت محمدا الوسيلة والفضيلة وابعثه مقاما محمودا الذي وعدته حلت له شفاعتي يوم القيامة (صحيح البخاري، الرقم: 614) (وأما زيادة إنك لا تخلف الميعاد فقد ذكرها البيهقي في السنن الكبرى، 1/410)

Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Whosoever recites the following dua after azaan, he will receive my intercession on the Day of Qiyaamah.”
