One should recite the following Duaa when turning from side to side while sleeping at night:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ، رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ

There is none worthy of worship besides Allah, the One who is Alone (in His Being and attributes), the Conqueror, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the All-Mighty, the All-Forgiving

عن عائشة، قالت: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا تضور من الليل قال: لا إله إلا الله الواحد القهار، رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما العزيز الغفار (صحيح ابن حبان رقم 5530, سنن النسائى الكبرى رقم 7641)

Hazrat Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite the following Duaa when he would change his position and turn from one side to the other while sleeping at night

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ، رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ

One should recite the following Duaa upon awakening:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِذَنْبِى وَأَسْأَلُكَ رَحْمَتَكَ اللَّهُمَّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا وَلاَ تُزِغْ قَلْبِى بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنِى وَهَبْ لِى مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

There is none worthy of worship besides You.…

1. If the first row is full then only should one move to the second row.…

One should recite the following Duaa upon awakening:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala who granted us life after death and to Him is our return.…

1. Whilst the Deeni discourse is being delivered, one’s full attention should be focused towards the speaker.…

One should recite the following Dua upon awakening:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي وَلَمْ يُمِتْهَا فِي مَنَامِهَا، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يُمْسِكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ أَنْ تَزُولَا وَلَئِنْ زَالَتَا إنْ أمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِه إنَّهُ كَانَ حَليِمًا غَفُورًا ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءَ أَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِه إنَّ اللهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَؤُوفٌ رَّحِيم

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala who returned my soul to me and did not cause it to die in its sleep.…

1. One should listen attentively to the speaker.

2. Whilst the Deeni discourse is in progress, one should not be engaged in any other activity other than paying attention to the speaker e.g.…

If one experiences sleeplessness, he should recite the following Duaa

اللَّهُمَّ غَارَتِ النُّجُومُ، وَهَدَأَتِ الْعُيُونُ وَأَنْتَ حَيٌّ قَيُّومٌ لا تَأخُذُكَ سِنَةٌ وَلا نَومٌ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ أَهْدِئْ لَيْلِي و أَنِمْ عَيْنِي

O Allah, the stars have set and the eyes are calm (resting), and You are the Ever- Living, the Eternal, neither slumber nor sleep overtakes You; O the Ever- Living, the Eternal, allow my night to pass with calmness (and rest), and allow my eyes to fall asleep.…
