1. One should not add to the sorrows of the family by making improper statements or asking improper questions such as enquiring from the close family members regarding the details of the final illness or circumstances of death.…

One should reply to the words of the azaan, and after replying to the shahaadatain, one should recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَاجْعَلْ فِي الْأَعْلَيْنَ دَرَجَتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ مَحَبَّتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ذِكْرَهُ

O Allah, grant Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the ‘waseela’ (a lofty stage in Jannah)  and ‘Fadheela’(Your special grace), and elevate his stages to the highest stage (in Paradise), and bless the hearts of Your chosen servants with his special love, and bless the extremely pious of Your servants with his remembrance.…

1. It is desirable for the family and friends of the deceased to comfort the relatives of the deceased.…

1. Ta’ziat means sharing condolences with the bereaved and sympathizing with them over the loss of their near and dear one.…

1.One should not hasten in removing his hand after making musaafaha. Rather, one should allow the next person to remove his hand first.…

One should recite the following Duaa after azaan:

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَّ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا

I bear testimony that there is no god except Allah who is alone and there is no partner for Him.…

1.When making musaafaha one should merely grasp the next person’s hands. There is no need to shake the hands.…

1. After the Azaan, one should recite Durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَّهُ إنَّكَ لاَتُخْلِفُ الْمِيْعَاد

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the established salaah, bestow upon Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the ‘waseela’ (stage in Jannah)  and ‘Fadheela’(special grace), and grant him the “Maqaam Mahmood” (the honour of interceding to Allah Ta’ala to commence the reckoning for the entire creation on the day of Qiyaamah) which you promised him, indeed you do not go against your promise.…

1. One should make musaafaha with both hands.

عن ابن مسعود قال علمني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وكفي بين كفيه التشهد كما يعلمني السورة من القرآن (بخاري رقم 6265)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports: “Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) taught me the tashahhud in the manner he would teach me a surah of the Quran.…

It is sunnah for one to recite the following Duaa when leaving the Musjid

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَالسَّلامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذُنُوبِي وَافْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ فضلِكَ
