Duaas

One should recite the following duaa in the morning or at night

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

There is none worthy of worship besides Allah Ta’ala, and Allah Ta’ala is the greatest.…

عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال : لقي رجل من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم رجلا من الجن فصارعه فصرعه الانسي فقال له الجني : عاودني فعادوه فصرعه فقال له الانسي : إني لأراك ضئيلا شحيبا كأن ذريعتك ذريعتا كلب فكذلك انتم معشر الجن أو أنت منهم كذلك ؟ قال : لا والله إني منهم لضليع ولكن عاودني الثالثة فإن صرعتني علمتك شيئا ينفعك فعاوده فصرعه قال : هات علمني قال : هل تقرأ آية الكرسي ؟ قال : نعم قال : إنك لن تقرأها في بيت إلا خرج منه الشيطان له خبج كخبج الحمار لا يدخله حتى يصبح قال رجل من القوم : يا أبا عبد الرحمن من ذاك الرجل من أصحاب محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم ؟(و في رواية  فقيل لابن مسعود: أهو عمر؟) قال : فعبس عبد الله وأقبل عليه وقال : من يكون هو إلا عمر رضي الله عنه (المعجم الكبير رقم 8826)

One should recite any Surah of the Qur’an before sleeping

One should recite the following Duaa upon awakening during the night:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

There is no deity besides Allah Ta’ala alone, the One who has no partner.…

Before commencing one’s tahajjud salaah, one should recite Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) ten times, Tahmeed (Alhamdulllah) ten times, Tasbeeh (SubhaanAllah) ten times, and Istighfaar (Astaghfirullah) ten times.…

At night while sleeping, if one changes his posture and recites بِسْمِ اللهِ  ten times,  سُبْحَانَ الله ten times,  آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ وَكَفَرْتُ بِالطَّاغُوت ten times, he will be saved from everything that he fears (bad dreams, evil of Shaytaan etc.)…

Before commencing one’s tahajjud salaah, one should recite the following Duaa:

اللهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرَائِيلَ، وَمِيكَائِيلَ، وَإِسْرَافِيلَ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ، اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ، إِنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

O Allah, the Rabb of Hadhrat Jibreel, Mika’eel and Israafeel, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Knower of the hidden and the apparent, You judge between Your servants in that which they differ, guide me to the truth in matters of difference with Your permission, surely You guide who You wish to the straight path.  …

One should recite Bismillah before entering the toilet

عن علي رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال: ستر ما بين أعين الجن وعورات بني آدم إذا دخل أحدهم الخلاء أن يقول بسم الله (ترمذي رقم 606)

Hazrat Ali (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The veil for the jinnaat not staring at the private parts of a person is the recitation of Bismillah at the time one enters the toilet.”…

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite the following surahs in his witr salaah: Surah Aa’laa in the first rakaat; Surah Kaafiroon in the second rakaat; Surah Ikhlaas in the third rakaat.…
