Sunnats and Aadaab of Tilaawat of the Qur’aan Majeed – Part 11

1. While one is engaged in the tilaawat of the Qur’aan Majeed, one should show one’s full attention towards the Qur’aan Majeed. One should not engage in worldly discussions in between the tilaawat, especially when the Qur’aan Majeed is left open. If there is a need for one to speak, then one should complete the aayah one is reciting, and thereafter respectfully close the Qur’aan Majeed and then speak.

كان ابن عمر إذا قرأ القرآن لم يتكلم حتى يفرغ منه (صحيح البخاري رقم 4526)

Whenever Hazrat ibn Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) would recite the Qur’aan Majeed, he would not engage in any (worldly) discussion until he completed reciting.
