Sunnats and Aadaab of Tilaawat of the Qur’aan Majeed – Part 17

1. When one completes the tilaawat of the entire Qur’aan Majeed and reaches Surah Naas, then it is mustahab for one to commence the Qur’aan Majeed again by reciting Surah Faatiha and the beginning verses of Surah Baqarah until اَلمفْلِحُون .

Hazrat Ibn Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that a person once asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “Which action is most beloved to Allah Ta‘ala?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “The action of the haal and murtahil (the traveller who after stopping during his journey, recommences his journey).” The man inquired, “O Rasullulah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), by saying the action of the haal and murtahil (the traveller who stops during his journey and then recommences his journey), who are you referring to?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “I am referring to the reciter of the Qur’aan Majeed who (during his journey of reciting the book of Allah Ta‘ala) recites from the beginning of the Qur’aan Majeed till he reaches the end, and when he reaches the end (of the Qur’aan Majeed), then he recommences (the Qur’aan Majeed from the beginning).”
