Sunnats and Aadaab of Tilaawat of the Qur’aan Majeed – Part 24

1. There are certain surahs which have been prescribed to be recited at specific times during the night and day or during certain days of the week. It is mustahab for one to recite these surahs at their prescribed times.
f) One should recite Surah Dukhaan on Thursday night (the night of Jumu’ah).

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من قرأ حم الدخان ليلة الجمعة غفر له (سنن الترمذي رقم 2889)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “Whoever recites Surah Haa meem Ad-Dukhaan on the night of Jumu’ah (i.e. Thursday night), then his (minor) sins will be forgiven.”
