Deceiving or hurting the people of Madinah

Deceiving or hurting the people of Madinah

Hadhrat Sa’ad Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu reports that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam said. “Whoever plans to deceive the people of Madinah shall become destroyed as salt is dissolved in water.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

According to a Hadith in Muslim Shareef, Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam said:
“Whoever desires to commit any crime against the people of Madinah, Allah Ta’ālā shall destroy him as fire melts metal or as salt dissolves in water.”

Hadhrat Jaabir Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu once said: “May that person become destroyed who threatens our Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam.” His son replied: “How can that be since Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam has passed away? How can anyone threaten him?” Hadhrat Jaabir Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu replied: “Verily I heard Nabi Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam say: ‘Whoever threatens the people of Madinah Munawwarah, does indeed threaten this heart of mine.’

In another Hadith we read: “Whoever frightens the people of Madinah Shareef, Allah Ta’ālā shall frighten him.” Hadhrat ‘Ubaadah Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu reports that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam said: “O Allah, whenever anyone persecutes or frightens the people of Madinah Shareef, You then frighten him. May the curse of Allah Ta’ālā, His angels and the whole world descend upon him. Neither shall his Fardh acts nor his Nafl acts be accepted.

Hadhrat Zaid bin Aslam Radiyallāhu ‘Anhu also reports that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam made this Du’aa against those who desire evil against the people of Madinah.

Note: These words are indeed frightening and should be taken seriously, especially by those who visit Madinah Munawwarah. They should be very careful that they do not hurt the people, injure their feelings or deceive them in their dealings. To deal with them dishonestly means to expose oneself to destruction. When dealing with them, try to deal with them with utmost honesty.
