Raising The Gaze When Reciting The Shahaadat Upon Completing Wudhu

When reciting the Shaahadat upon completion of the wudhu, if one is in an open place, one should raise his gaze towards the sky and recite the Shaahadat.

عن عقبة بن عامر رضى الله عنه: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من توضأ فأتم وضوءه، ثم رفع رأسه إلى السماء، فقال: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، وأن محمدا عبده ورسوله، فتحت له ثمانية أبواب الجنة يدخل من أيها شاء. (المصنف لإبن ابي شيبة رقم 24)

Hadhrat Uqbah bin Aamir (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: Whoever performs a perfect wudhu then raises his gaze towards the sky and recites the following Duaa, the eight doors of Jannat will be opened for him and will be allowed to enter from whichever door he wishes (on the day of Qiyaamah):

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
