One should recite Sayyidul Istighfaar in the day and night

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah, You are my Rabb, there is none worthy of worship besides You.…

عن أبي أمامة رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من قرأ آية الكرسي دبر كل صلاة لم يمنعه من دخول الجنة إلا أن يموت  رواه النسائي والطبراني بأسانيد أحدها صحيح  وقال شيخنا أبو الحسن هو على شرط البخاري وابن حبان في كتاب الصلاة وصححه (الترغيب رقم 2468)  و في رواية ضعيفة عن علي رضي الله عنه قال : سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على أعواد المنبر يقول : من قرأ آية الكرسي في دبر كل صلاة لم يمنعه من دخول الجنة إلا الموت ومن قرأها حين يأخذ مضجعه آمنه الله على داره ودار جاره وأهل دويرات حوله.…

One should ensure that he performs a good deed before sleeping, so that if death is written for one at that time, one’s last actions will be righteous and pious.…

One should recite the following duaa in the morning or at night

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ

There is none worthy of worship besides Allah Ta’ala, and Allah Ta’ala is the greatest.…

One should recite the following duaa before going to sleep

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَكَفَانَا وَآوَانَا فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لَا كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلَا مُؤْوِيَ

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala, who gave us food, drink, fulfilled our needs and gave us shelter.…

If one experiences a good dream, then he should recite Alhamdulillah. If one wishes, one may relate his dream to someone who he is fond of (someone who is his well-wisher).…

One should recite Bismillah before entering the toilet

عن علي رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال: ستر ما بين أعين الجن وعورات بني آدم إذا دخل أحدهم الخلاء أن يقول بسم الله (ترمذي رقم 606)

Hazrat Ali (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The veil for the jinnaat not staring at the private parts of a person is the recitation of Bismillah at the time one enters the toilet.”…

One should recite the following Duaa after performing the witr salaah:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّى أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لاَ أُحْصِى ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ

O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your displeasure, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I seek refuge in You (in Your mercy) from You (from Your punishment).…

Before entering the toilet one should recite the following duaa:

اَللّهُمَّ اِنِّى اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الخُبُثِ وَ الخَباَئِث

O Allah I seek Your protection from the male and female jinnaat.…

In the two rakaat sunnats of Fajr, it is sunnah for one to recite Surah Kaafiroon in the first rakaat and Surah Ikhlaas in the second rakaat:

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قرأ في ركعتي الفجر: قل يا أيها الكافرون، وقل هو الله أحد.…
