1. At the time of  wearing one’s clothes, one should recite the following duaa:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِن غَيرِ حَولٍ مِّنِّي وَلَا قُوَّة

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala who has clothed me with this (clothing) and granted it to me without any effort or ability from my side.…

One should ensure that he performs a good deed before sleeping, so that if death is written for one at that time, one’s last actions will be righteous and pious.…

1. The best clothing for one to wear is that which is worn by the pious and righteous.…

One should recite any Surah of the Qur’an before sleeping

عن شداد بن أوس رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم ما من مسلم يأخذ مضجعه فيقرأ سورة من كتاب الله إلا وكل الله له به ملكا فلا يقربه شيء يؤذيه حتى يهب من نومه متى هب.…

1. One should wear trousers or a lungi under one’s kurta. One should avoid wearing Bermudas/jammies under the kurta.…

One should recite Surah Faatiha and Surah Ikhlaas before sleeping.

عن أنس قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : إذا وضعت جنبك على الفراش وقرأت فاتحة الكتاب و )قل هو الله أحد ( فقد أمنت من كل شيء إلا الموت. …

1. One should not adopt the fashions and trends of the kuffaar in one’s dressing.

عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص قال: رأى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم علي ثوبين معصفرين فقال إن هذه من ثياب الكفار فلا تلبسها  (مسلم رقم 2077)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Amr (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports: Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had seen me wear two yellow-coloured pieces of cloth.…

One should recite the last three verses of Surah Baqarah before sleeping.

عن على رضي الله عنه قال : ما كنت أرى أحدا يعقل ينام حتى يقرأ الآيات الأواخر من سورة البقرة فإنهن من كنز تحت العرش (الدارمى ، ومسدد ، ومحمد بن نصر ، وابن الضريس ، وابن مردويه) [كنز العمال 4065] (جامع الأحاديث رقم 34768)

It is reported that Hadhrat Ali (Radhiyallahu Anhu) said: “I do not think that any intelligent person will go to sleep without reciting the last (three) verses of Surah Baqarah, for certainly it is a treasure from beneath the Arsh.”…

One should recite Surah Zumar and Surah Bani Israa’eel before sleeping

عن أبي لبابة قال قالت عائشة رضي الله عنها : كان النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم لا ينام حتى يقرأ الزمر وبني إسرائيل (ترمذي رقم 3405)

Hadhrat Abu Lubaabah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Hadhrat Aaisha (Radhiyallahu Anha) said: “Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would not sleep until he recited Surah Zumar and Surah Bani Israa’eel.”…

1. One should not wear tattered and torn clothing.

2. If Allah Ta’ala has provided a person with wealth, then out of shukr to Allah Ta’ala he should wear clothing of a good quality.…
