The following Duaa is also reported in the Hadith as a Duaa to be recited in the Qunoot of witr:

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِى فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ وَعَافِنِى فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ وَتَوَلَّنِى فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ وَبَارِكْ لِى فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَقِنِى شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ إِنَّكَ تَقْضِى وَلاَ يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ وَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ وَلاَ يَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَيْتَ تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ

O Allah, guide me along with those whom you have guided, grant me ease along with those whom you have granted ease, protect and take charge of my affairs along with those whom You have protected and taken charge of their affairs, grant me barakah (blessings) in all that You have granted me, save me from the harm of that which You have decreed.…

1. The words of salaam end with  “Wa barakaatuhu”. One should not add any other words after “Wa barakaatuhu”.…

One should recite Dua-e-Qunoot in the third rakaat of witr. The Dua-e-Qunoot is as follows:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَعِينُكَ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ ، وَنُثْنِي عَلَيْكَ الْخَيْرَ ، وَلاَ نَكْفُرُكَ ، وَنَخْلَعُ وَنَتْرُكُ مَنْ يَفْجُرُكَ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ ، وَلَكَ نُصَلِّي وَنَسْجُدُ ، وَإِلَيْكَ نَسْعَى وَنَحْفِدُ ، نَرْجُو رَحْمَتَكَ وَنَخْشَى عَذَابَكَ ، إِنَّ عَذَابَكَ الْجِدَّ بِالْكُفَّارِ مُلْحِقٌ

O Allah!…

1. If one is greeted with salaam,  it is waajib for one to reply to the salaam.…

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite the following surahs in his witr salaah: Surah Aa’laa in the first rakaat; Surah Kaafiroon in the second rakaat; Surah Ikhlaas in the third rakaat.…

1. When making salaam, one should make salaam by saying “Assalaamu Alaikum.”  One may add to the words of the salaam by saying “Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah ” or “Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa barakaatuhu”.…

Before commencing one’s tahajjud salaah, one should recite the following Duaa:

اللهُمَّ رَبَّ جِبْرَائِيلَ، وَمِيكَائِيلَ، وَإِسْرَافِيلَ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، أَنْتَ تَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ، اهْدِنِي لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِإِذْنِكَ، إِنَّكَ تَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

O Allah, the Rabb of Hadhrat Jibreel, Mika’eel and Israafeel, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Knower of the hidden and the apparent, You judge between Your servants in that which they differ, guide me to the truth in matters of difference with Your permission, surely You guide who You wish to the straight path.  …

1. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has encouraged us in the mubaarak Ahaadith to make salaam a common practice among ourselves.…

Before commencing one’s tahajjud salaah, one should recite Takbeer (Allahu Akbar) ten times, Tahmeed (Alhamdulllah) ten times, Tasbeeh (SubhaanAllah) ten times, and Istighfaar (Astaghfirullah) ten times.…

1. When one meets his Muslim brother, he should greet him with salaam.

عن علي رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : للمسلم على المسلم ست بالمعروف يسلم عليه إذا لقيه ويجيبه إذا دعاه ويشمته إذا عطس ويعوده إذا مرض ويتبع جنازته إذا مات ويحب له ما يحب لنفسه.…
