After completing one’s fardh salaah, one should recite istighfaar thrice and recite the following duaa.

اَللَّهُمَّ أنْتَ السَّلَام وَمِنْكَ السَّلَام تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإكْرَام

1. One should assist the bereaved by sending food to their home. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has taught the Sahaabah (Radhiyallahu Anhum) to express sympathies with the bereaved and assist them at the time of their grief and sorrow.…

عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: الدعاء لا يرد بين الأذان والإقامة قالوا: فماذا نقول يا رسول الله؟ قال: سلوا الله العافية في الدنيا والآخرة  (ترمذي رقم 3594)

Hazrat Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The duaa made between azaan and iqaamah is not rejected.”…

1. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) comforted the bereaved in the following manner:

إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا أَخَذَ وَلَهُ مَا أَعْطَى وَكُلٌّ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَلْتَصْبِرْ وَلْتَحْتَسِبْ

To Allah Ta’ala alone belongs that which He takes, and to Him alone belongs that which He gives.…

If a person is in difficulty or hardship, he should reply to the words of the azaan, and thereafter recite the following Duaa.…

1. It is makrooh for a person to make ta’ziyat for a second time when he has already made it before.…

1.It is permissible to praise the deceased. However, when praising him, one should ensure that one does not exaggerate or praise him for characteristics that were not found in him.…

One should recite the following Duaa after azaan:

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ النَّافِعةِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَارْضَ عَنّي رِضَاءً لَا سَخَطَ بَعْدَهُ

O Allah, Rabb of this lasting call (which will continue until the day of Qiyaamah) and this beneficial salaah, confer Your special blessings upon Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and bless me with Your everlasting pleasure which is such that You would never be displeased with me thereafter.…

1. One should not add to the sorrows of the family by making improper statements or asking improper questions such as enquiring from the close family members regarding the details of the final illness or circumstances of death.…
