1. Upon awakening, one should recite the masnoon du`aa:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

“All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala who granted us life after death and to Him is our return.”…

1. One should not inconvenience any of his companions in any way during the journey.

المسلم من سلم المسلمون من لسانه و يده  (و في رواية لاحمد: من سلم الناس)  (البخاري رقم 6484)

A perfect Muslim is he who does not inconvenience any person through his tongue or his hand.…

1. At the time one wakes up for Tahajjud, one should recite the following:

1)

   اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ قَيِّمُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ لَكَ مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ اَنْتَ نُورُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْتَ الْحَقُّ وَوَعْدُكَ الْحَقُّ وَلِقَاؤُكَ حَقٌّ وَقَوْلُكَ حَقٌّ وَالْجَنَّةُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّارُ حَقٌّ وَالنَّبِيُّونَ حَقٌّ وَمُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ حَقٌّ اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ أَنَبْتُ وَبِكَ خَاصَمْتُ وَإِلَيْكَ حَاكَمْتُ فَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

O Allah, all praise belongs to You and You are the sustainer of the heavens and the Earth and whatever is contained within them.…

1.  One should adopt a gentle approach when dealing with one’s companions and engage in light-hearted discussions while on the journey.…

1. If one experiences a good dream, then recite Alhamdulillah and one may relate the dream to someone who is knowledgeable in the field of interpretation of dreams or to someone who is his well-wisher.…

1. Whilst eating, one should not remain completely silent. ^[1]
2. One should eat with three fingers if possible.…

1.  When entering the town or city, one should one should recite the following Duaa thrice:

اللهم بارك لنا فيها

O Allah, grant us barakah in this place

Thereafter, one should recite the following Duaa:

اَللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقنَا جَنَاهَا وَحَبِّبنَا إِلَى أَهلِهَا وَحَبِّبْ صَالِحِى اَهلِهَا إِلَينَا

 O Allah, give us of its fruit and produce and make us beloved to its people and make the pious of its people beloved to us.…

1. a)  If one experiences a bad dream then one should spit on to the left side thrice, recite the following duaa thrice, and one should change one’s sleeping position

أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيطَانِ الرَّجِيم

عن جابر رضي الله عنه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال إذا رأى أحدكم الرؤيا يكرهها فليبصق عن يساره ثلاثا وليستعذ بالله من الشيطان ثلاثا وليتحول عن جنبه الذي كان عليه (مسلم رقم 2262)

Hadhrat Jaabir (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “When you see a bad dream, then spit on your left thrice, and thereafter seek protection of Allah Ta’ala thrice from Shaytaan, and one should change one’s sleeping position.…

Replying to the Iqaamah

Reply to the iqaamah in the same way that you reply to the azaan.…

1. Dress appropriately when coming to the musjid.

یٰبَنِیۡۤ  اٰدَمَ خُذُوۡا زِیۡنَتَکُمۡ عِنۡدَ کُلِّ مَسۡجِدٍ

Allah Ta’ala says, “O children of Aadam (alayhis salaam), take your adornment at the time of performing salaah in the musjid.”…
