Sunnats and Aadaab of Jum'uah – Part 2

1.      One should  wear one’s best clothes on the day of Jum’uah.

عن عبد الله بن سلام رضي الله عنه أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم يقول على المنبر في يوم الجمعة  ما على أحدكم لو اشترى ثوبين ليوم الجمعة سوى ثوب مهنته (ابن ماجة ص 77)

Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Salaam (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that he heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) mention while he was on the mimbar delivering the khutbah on the day of Jum’uah: “Why don’t you purchase a pair of clothing and keep it exclusive for wearing on the day of Jum’uah, apart from your normal daily clothing?”

2.      One should preferably wear white as Allah Ta’ala likes white clothes.

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم ألبسوا من ثيابكم البياض فإنها خير ثيابكم وكفنوا فيها موتاكم (الترمذي 1/118)

Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Wear white clothing, for indeed it is the best of clothes, and enshroud your deceased in it.”

3.      To recite Surah Sajdah in the first rakaat and Surah Dahr in the second rakaat of the Fajr on the day of Jum’uah.

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرأ فى صلاة الفجر يوم الجمعة تنزيل السجدة و هل أتى على الإنسان حين من الدهر. )ابو داود 1/154)

Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to recite Surah Sajdah in the first rakaat and Surah Dahr in the second rakaat of Fajr on the day of Jum’uah.
