1.      One should recite the following masnoon du`aa of safr.

1) بِسْمِ اللهِ , اَلحَمْدُ لله سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ  وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اَلحَمدُ لله , اَلحَمْدُ للهِ , اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ , الله أكبر, الله أكبر, الله أكبر,لا اله الا الله سُبحَانَكَ اَللهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفسِي فَاغْفِر لِي, فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

In the name of Allah Ta’ala.…

1.      One should inform one’s family members of his destination and place of residence during his journey, so that it will be possible for them to contact him in the case of any emergency.…

1. Before embarking on a journey (i.e. travelling to a place which is 78 km or more) it is sunnah for one to perform two rakaats of salaat (i.e.…

One should recite the following Duaa in the evening:

أَمْسَيْنَا وَأَمْسَى الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهَا، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهَا، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ وَسُوءِ الْكِبَرِ، رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِي النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِي الْقَبْرِ

We and the entire creation of Allah Ta’ala spend the evening for Allah Ta’ala.…

One should recite the beginning verses of Surah Mu’min and thereafter recite Aayatul Kursi. The verses of Surah Mu’min are:

حم تَنزِيلُ الكِتَابِ مِنَ اللهِ العَزِيزِ العَلِيم غَافِرِ الذَّنْبِ وَقَابِلِ التَوبِ شَدِيدِ العِقَابِ ذِي الطَّول لَا إِلَهَ إلا هُوَ إِلَيهِ المصِير

اللَّـهُ لا إِلـٰهَ إِلّا هُوَ الحَىُّ القَيّومُ لا تَأخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلا نَومٌ لَهُ ما فِى السَّمـٰوٰتِ وَما فِى الأَرضِ مَن ذَا الَّذى يَشفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلّا بِإِذنِهِ يَعلَمُ ما بَينَ أَيديهِم وَما خَلفَهُم وَلا يُحيطونَ بِشَىءٍ مِن عِلمِهِ إِلّا بِما شاءَ وَسِعَ كُرسِيُّهُ السَّمـٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضَ وَلا يَـٔودُهُ حِفظُهُما وَهُوَ العَلِىُّ العَظيمُ

عن أبي هريرة  رضي الله عنه قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم من قرأ حم المؤمن إلى { إليه المصير } وآية الكرسي حين يصبح حفظ بهما حتى يمسي ومن قرأهما حين يمسي حفظ بهما حتى يصبح (ترمذي رقم 2879)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who recites the beginning verses of Surah Mu’min and Aayatul Kursi in the morning, Allah Ta’ala will grant him protection through it till the evening, and the one who recites it in the evening, Allah Ta’ala will grant him protection through it till the morning. …

1. One should drink in at least three sips.

عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال : كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يتنفس في الشراب ثلاثا.…

 1.  One should not drink directly from a large utensil or any such utensil through which the contents one is consuming cannot be seen.…

1. One should recite the following Duaa after drinking milk.

اَلّلهُمَّ بَارِك لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنهُ

O Allah grant us barkat and increase in this milk.…

 1. One should recite the following Duaa after drinking water.

اَلحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي سَقَانَا عَذْبًا فُرَاتًا بِرَحْمَتِهِ، وَلَم يَجْعَلْهُ مِلْحًا أُجَاجًا بِذُنُوبِنَا

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala who provided us with sweet drinking water through His grace, and He did not make it bitter and salty on account of our sins.…

1. When eating, one should eat from the sides of the plate and not the middle, as the blessings descends in the middle of the plate.…
