Duaas

One should reply to the words of the azaan, and after replying to the shahaadatain, one should recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَاجْعَلْ فِي الْأَعْلَيْنَ دَرَجَتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ مَحَبَّتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ذِكْرَهُ

O Allah, grant Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the ‘waseela’ (a lofty stage in Jannah)  and ‘Fadheela’(Your special grace), and elevate his stages to the highest stage (in Paradise), and bless the hearts of Your chosen servants with his special love, and bless the extremely pious of Your servants with his remembrance.…

One should recite the following Duaa after azaan:

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ النَّافِعةِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَارْضَ عَنّي رِضَاءً لَا سَخَطَ بَعْدَهُ

O Allah, Rabb of this lasting call (which will continue until the day of Qiyaamah) and this beneficial salaah, confer Your special blessings upon Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and bless me with Your everlasting pleasure which is such that You would never be displeased with me thereafter.…

After completing one’s fardh salaah, one should place one’s right hand on his forehead and thereafter pass it over his head and recite the following duaa:

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَنُ الرَّحِيمُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ عَنِّي الْهَمَّ وَالْحَزَنَ

In the name of Allah, the One besides whom there is no other deity, the Beneficent, the Merciful.…

After completing the meal, one should recite the following duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ، وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ

O Allah, put barakah in this food and grant us something better than it

عن ابن عباس، قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا أكل أحدكم طعاما فليقل: اللهم بارك لنا فيه، وأطعمنا خيرا منه (سنن أبي داود رقم 3730)

Hazrat ibn Abbaas (Radhiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “When you complete your meal, then recite the following duaa:”

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ، وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ

One should recite the following du‘aa when embarking on a journey:

بِسْمِ اللهِ , اَلحَمْدُ لله سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اَلحَمدُ لله , اَلحَمْدُ للهِ , اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ , اللهُ أَكْبَرُ, اللهُ أَكْبَرُ, اللهُ أَكْبَرُ,لاَ اِلهَ الاَّ اللهُ سُبحَانَكَ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفسِي فَاغْفِر لِي فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

In the name of Allah Ta’ala.…

One should recite the following duaa after salaah:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ، وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ، وَمَا أَسْرَفْتُ وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي، أَنْتَ الْمُقَدِّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخِّرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah, forgive my sins, my past sins and my future sins, the sins done in secret and the sins committed openly, and the (major) sins where I surpassed the limits (of Shariah) and those sins that You know more than me.…

After completing the meal, the following duaa should be recited when lifting the food and the dastarkhaan (eating cloth):

اَلحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنهُ رَبَّنَا

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala, such praises that are plentiful, pure and full of blessings.…

When embarking on a journey, one should recite the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) thrice and then recite the following du‘aa:

 سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى , وَمِن العَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى , اَللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَينَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ , اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ, وَالخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ , اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ, وَكَآبَةِ المنْظَر, وَسُوءِ المنْقَلَبِ فِي الماَلِ وَالأَهْلِ  وَالوَلَد

Glory be to Allah Ta’ala who has subjugated this animal (or placed this vehicle under our control) though we were (without His help) unable to control it.…

One should recite the following Duaa after salaah

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي خَطَئِي وَعَمْدِي، اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي لِصَالِحِ الْأَعْمَالِ وَالْأَخْلَاقِ ; إِنَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي لِصَالِحِهَا وَلَا يَصْرِفُ سَيِّئَهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ

O Allah, forgive me for my sins which I had committed mistakenly and intentionally.…

One should recite the following duaa after drinking milk:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ

O Allah, grant us blessing and increase in this milk

عن ابن عباس، قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إذا أكل أحدكم طعاما فليقل: اللهم بارك لنا فيه، وأطعمنا خيرا منه، وإذا سقي لبنا فليقل: اللهم بارك لنا فيه، وزدنا منه، فإنه ليس شيء يجزئ من الطعام والشراب إلا اللبن (سنن أبي داود رقم 3730)

Hazrat ibn Abbaas (Radhiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “When you complete your meal, then recite the following duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ

And whoever is given milk to drink, then he should recite the following duaa:

اَلّلهُمَّ بَارِك لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنهُ

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then said: “There is nothing that can suffice for both food and drink besides milk.”…
