عن أنس بن مالك : أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال إن الله ليرضى عن العبد أن يأكل الأكلة أو يشرب الشربة فيحمده عليها (ترمذي رقم 1816)

Hazrat Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Certainly Allah Ta’ala is pleased with the servant who praises Allah Ta’ala after eating or drinking.”

Du’aa When Intending To Embark On A Journey

One should recite the following du‘aa when he intends embarking on a journey

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصُولُ، وَبِكَ أَحُولُ، وَبِكَ أَسِيرُ

O Allah, only with Your help I am able to attack (and overcome the enemy), and only with Your help I am able to strive (in your path), and only with Your help I am able to complete my journey

عن علي، قال: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا أراد سفرا قال: اللهم بك أصول، وبك أحول، وبك أسير (مسند أحمد رقم 691)

Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would recite the following du‘aa when he intended embarking on a journey

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصُولُ، وَبِكَ أَحُولُ، وَبِكَ أَسِيرُ

Safety From Drowning When Travelling By Sea

When travelling by sea, one should recite the following two verses. If one recites these verses, Allah Ta‘ala will save one from drowning:

  • بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مَجْرِىهَا وَمُرْسٰهَا إِنَّ رَبِّي لَغَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

  • وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِهِ وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَالسَّمٰوٰتُ مَطْوِيّٰتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ سُبْحٰنَهُ وَتَعٰلٰى عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Du’aa When Entering A Town Or City

When entering a town or city, one should recite the following duaa thrice:

اَللَّهُمّ بَارك لنَا فِيهَا

O Allah, grant us barakah in this place

Thereafter, one should recite the following duaa:

اَللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقنَا جَنَاهَا وَحَبِّبنَا إِلَى أَهلِهَا وَحَبِّبْ صَالِحِى اَهلِهَا إِلَينَا

 O Allah, give us of its fruits and produce and make us beloved to its people and make the pious of its people beloved to us.

When entering a town or city, one should recite the following duaa:

اللهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَظْلَلْنَ وَرَبَّ الْأَرْضِينَ السَّبْعِ وَمَا أَقْلَلْنَ وَرَبَّ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَمَا أَضْلَلْنَ وَرَبَّ الرِّيَاحِ ومَا ذَرَيْنَ، فَإِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ وَخَيْرَ أَهْلِهَا وَنَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا وَشَرِّ أَهْلِهَا وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا

O Allah, the Rabb of the seven skies and whatever they cover, the Rabb of the seven earths and whatever they carry, the Rabb of the Shayaateen and whoever they mislead, the Rabb of the winds and whatever it scatters, indeed we ask You to bless us with the good of this village and the good of its people, and we seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people and the evil contained within it.

While travelling, when night approaches, one should recite the following du‘aa:

يَا أَرْضُ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكِ اللَّهُ، أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّكِ وَشَرِّ مَا فِيكِ، وَشَرِّ مَا خُلِقَ فِيكِ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَدِبُّ عَلَيْكِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ أَسَدٍ وَأَسْوَدَ، وَمِنِ الْحَيَّةِ وَالْعَقْرَبِ، وَمِنْ سَاكِنِ الْبَلَدِ، وَمِنْ وَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ

O earth, my Rabb and your Rabb is Allah.

Du‘aa To Recite At The Time Of Sehri While Travelling

While travelling, one should recite the following du‘aa at the time of sehri:

سَمِعَ سَامِعٌ بِحَمْدِ اللهِ وَحُسْنِ بَلَائِهِ عَلَيْنَا، رَبَّنَا صَاحِبْنَا وَأَفْضِلْ عَلَيْنَا، عَائِذًا بِاللهِ مِنَ النَّار

Those who are hearing hear (and witness) our praise of Allah Ta‘ala and (our acknowledgment of) His great bounties upon us.

Du’aa When Returning From A Journey

When returning from a journey, when one ascends any high land, he should recite takbeer (Allahu Akbar) thrice and when approaching his homeland or city, he should recite the following dua:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ المُلْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ سَاجِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ، صَدَقَ اللَّهُ وَعْدَهُ، وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ، وَهَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

There is no deity besides Allah Ta’ala alone, who has no partner.
