1. When turning the pages of the Qur’aan Majeed, one should not place his finger on his tongue to wet his finger in order to turn the page.…

When embarking on a journey, one should recite the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) thrice and then recite the following du‘aa:

 سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا البِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى , وَمِن العَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى , اَللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَينَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ , اَللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ, وَالخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ , اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِن وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ, وَكَآبَةِ المنْظَر, وَسُوءِ المنْقَلَبِ فِي الماَلِ وَالأَهْلِ  وَالوَلَد

Glory be to Allah Ta’ala who has subjugated this animal (or placed this vehicle under our control) though we were (without His help) unable to control it.…

1. While one is engaged in the tilaawat of the Qur’aan Majeed, one should show one’s full attention towards the Qur’aan Majeed.…

One should recite the following du‘aa when embarking on a journey:

بِسْمِ اللهِ , اَلحَمْدُ لله سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اَلحَمدُ لله , اَلحَمْدُ للهِ , اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ , اللهُ أَكْبَرُ, اللهُ أَكْبَرُ, اللهُ أَكْبَرُ,لاَ اِلهَ الاَّ اللهُ سُبحَانَكَ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفسِي فَاغْفِر لِي فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

In the name of Allah Ta’ala.…

1. One should recite the Qur’aan Majeed in a beautiful voice. However, one should refrain from imitating the tunes and styles of the singers, etc.…

If one fears harm or danger from an enemy or any creature, then one should recite Surah Quraysh.…

1. Recite the Qur’aan Majeed with tajweed and with the correct pronunciation. Even if one is reciting the Qur’aan Majeed in a swift pace, one should ensure that one recites each word clearly with tajweed and the correct pronunciation.…

When someone comes to you seeking advice before proceeding on his journey, then one should advise him to adopt taqwa at all times, and to recite the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) whenever he ascends a high land during the journey.…

1. One should recite the Qur’aan Majeed when one’s heart is inclined towards the recitation. If one feels tired and notices that his concentration is affected, then one should stop the tilaawat, and continue when one is able to focus and concentrate.…

The one embarking on a journey should recite the following Duaa when bidding farewell to the people he is leaving behind

أَسْتَوْدِعُكُمُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا تَضِيعُ وَدَائِعُهُ

I place all of you in the care (and trust) of Allah Ta’ala, (in whose care) trusts are never destroyed

عن موسى بن وردان، قال: أتيت أبا هريرة أودعه لسفر أردته، فقال أبو هريرة رضي الله عنه: ألا أعلمك يا ابن أخي شيئا علمنيه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أقوله عند الوداع؟ قلت: بلى.…
