Sunnats and Aadaab of Azaan and Iqaamah – Part 10

Dua after the Azaan

1. After the azaan, one should recite durood upon Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and thereafter recite the following dua:

اللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًانِ الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَّحْمُودًانِ الَّذِيْ وَعَدْتَّهُ إِنَّكَ لَاتُخْلِفُ الْمِيْعَادْ

1. After reciting the dua after azaan, the following dua should also be recited:

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَّا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ رَضِيْتُ بِاللهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُوْلًا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِيْنًا

I bear testimony that there is no deity except Allah Ta’ala who is alone and has no partner, and that Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is His servant and messenger.

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّ هٰذَا إِقْبَالُ لَيْلِكَ وَإِدْبَارُ نَهَارِكَ وَأَصْوَاتُ دُعَاتِكَ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ

Du’aa After Azaan – 1

1. After the Azaan, one should recite Durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيْلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَّهُ إنَّكَ لاَتُخْلِفُ الْمِيْعَاد

O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the established salaah, bestow upon Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the ‘waseela’ (stage in Jannah and ‘Fadheela’(special grace), and grant him the “Maqaam Mahmood” (the honour of interceding to Allah Ta’ala to commence the reckoning for the entire creation on the day of Qiyaamah) which you promised him, indeed you do not go against your promise.

Du’aa After Azaan – 2

One should recite the following Duaa after azaan:

أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَّ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ باللهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا

Du’aa After The Shahaadatain Of Azaan

One should reply to the words of the azaan, and after replying to the shahaadatain, one should recite the following Duaa:

اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ، وَاجْعَلْ فِي الْأَعْلَيْنَ دَرَجَتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ مَحَبَّتَهُ، وَفِي الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ذِكْرَهُ

O Allah, grant Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) the ‘waseela’ (a lofty stage in Jannah)  and ‘Fadheela’(Your special grace), and elevate his stages to the highest stage (in Paradise), and bless the hearts of Your chosen servants with his special love, and bless the extremely pious of Your servants with his remembrance.

Duaa After Azaan – 3

One should recite the following Duaa after azaan:

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ الْقَائِمَةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ النَّافِعةِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَارْضَ عَنّي رِضَاءً لَا سَخَطَ بَعْدَهُ

O Allah, Rabb of this lasting call (which will continue until the day of Qiyaamah) and this beneficial salaah, confer Your special blessings upon Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and bless me with Your everlasting pleasure which is such that You would never be displeased with me thereafter.

Asking For Aafiyah Between Azaan And Iqaamah

عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: الدعاء لا يرد بين الأذان والإقامة قالوا: فماذا نقول يا رسول الله؟ قال: سلوا الله العافية في الدنيا والآخرة  (ترمذي رقم 3594)

Hazrat Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The duaa made between azaan and iqaamah is not rejected.”
